Covington Municipal Airport Awarded “Most Improved Airport”

2 / July / 2018

Barge Design Solutions’ client Covington Municipal Airport recently accepted the Tennessee Aeronautics’ Most Improved Airport Award at the 30th Annual Tennessee Airports Conference. Robin Anderson, Airport Manager, received the award on the Airport’s behalf.

The award represents actions taken by the Airport in response to a Pavement Condition Index (PCI) Study. Covington Municipal Airport also took measures to improve overall hangar effectiveness and aesthetics, rehabilitating six roofs and doors. These projects have improved airfield safety and aesthetics, and have facilitated increased business jet traffic from local industries.

Barge Design Solutions has supported Covington Municipal Airport in these and other improvements for several years. The firm has provided design for a variety of projects, including a runway widening and taxiway relocation, taxiway connector, concrete apron, airfield lighting, and relocation of a wind cone. Barge Design Solutions also assisted with updates to the Airport Layout Plan and Capital Improvement Plan.
