The Dan Barge, Jr. Award of Merit was established in 1980 to recognize an employee for a specific extraordinary initiative above the normal duties of one’s job in the prior year. Barge Project Engineer Morgan Bell was presented with the 2021 Dan Barge Jr. Award of Merit for his exceptional work with Columbus Water Works (CWW) on their South Columbus Water Resource Facility (SCWRF) Improvements project.

Barge was selected by CWW for construction administration services on this complex three-year construction effort including major upgrades to their influent pump station, aeration/blowers, digestor cleaning and digester roof replacement. Expected to be complete within the year, these improvements will upgrade the wastewater treatment plant’s operations so the utility can continue to provide quality service to their community. As a young engineer, Morgan showed an understanding beyond his years of experience as he coordinated Barge’s structural, mechanical, electrical, process/treatment, and survey staff team.

David Bishop, Senior Project Manager, shares, “Morgan took on a challenging project with no hesitation. He adeptly collaborated with both the contractor and client to minimize cost, keep construction on schedule, and guide decision-making processes. He displayed our firm’s values of collaboration, authenticity, responsibility, excellence, and service day in and day out, thus gaining the trust of our client. I am so proud of the growth as an engineer he made throughout this project.”
