ENR Ranks Barge Among Top Design Firms
10 / May / 2023
Barge Design Solutions (Barge) continues to climb in the marketplace, as reflected by Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) newly released annual rankings.
Based on 2022 performance, Barge has risen three spots on the 2023 ENR Top 500 Design Firms list – to No. 169. The firm also advanced five spots on the 2023 ENR Southeast Top Design Firms list – to No. 20. Additionally, Barge ranks No. 1 in Tennessee, and No. 10 in Alabama.
Barge’s impressive growth in 2022, which boasts a 24% increase in revenue, was seen across various markets including healthcare, facilities, water/wastewater, and transportation. This growth is attributed to the significant amount of federal money coming into the public markets and private capital in industrial development, healthcare, and data through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) programs.
In an interview with ENR spotlighting the ”Southeast’s 2023 Top Design Firms Expect to Build Momentum as Population Grows,” Barge President/CEO Bob Higgins was featured where he highlighted the unprecedented impact of these investments on design projects, along with state investments.
Furthermore, Chief Strategies Officer Chris Provost shared his insights on the demand for Barge’s design services in 2023 in ENR’s Top 500 Dialogue.
“Traditional public infrastructure markets in the water and transportation sector are hot. In the private sector, industrial manufacturing infrastructure demand is up, driven in part by the move to develop and deploy an extensive fleet of electric-powered vehicles.”
ENR provides news, analysis, data, and opinion for the A/E/C industry and is widely regarded as one of the industry's most authoritative publications. Each year ENR compiles lists of the top design firms, both publicly and privately held, based on the prior year’s design-specific revenue.
