Barge Design Solutions Adds Veteran Healthcare Design Professionals as Client Service Leaders in the Nashville Office

Barge Design Solutions (Barge), a leading regional engineering and architecture firm, is pleased to announce the appointments of Denis Stroup, RA, and Sims Polk, RA, AIA, as client service leaders in the Nashville office. They will use their expertise to serve the healthcare market, develop client relationships, and interface with technical teams to provide seamless project execution.

DENIS STROUP

Stroup has 30 years of experience that focuses on lean integrated project delivery and healthcare design, with the last 17 years managing large, complex healthcare-related projects.

Stroup is a Modesto Junior College graduate with an associate of science degree in architecture. He is a registered architect in California and an active member of the Association of Medical Facility Professionals (AMFP) and the Lean Construction Institute (LCI). Both organizations have launched chapters in Nashville this year, and Stroup has taken on leadership roles with responsibilities for coordinating program content. He is also active in providing training and facilitating lean principles and practices for project teams and organizations.

SIMS POLK

Polk is an accomplished, award-winning architect and planner with over 25 years of experience managing projects and teams in the healthcare market. She has extensive experience leading the planning and management efforts of academic medical center projects.

“Good healthcare design comes from listening to our clients to better understand the challenges they are facing in order to provide design solutions that creatively address their needs in a timely and cost-efficient manner,” said Sims Polk, client service leader. “The healthcare team at Barge has a long history of providing excellent healthcare design services to our for-profit and not-for-profit clients. I am excited to be part of a team with a deep understanding of quality healthcare design and a strong corporate culture that encourages individuals to reach their full potential.”

Polk received a bachelor's degree in business administration with a focus on managerial finance from the University of Mississippi. As a registered architect in Tennessee, she also holds a master's degree in architecture from the University of Virginia, where she received a Certificate in Historic Preservation. She is the current Vice President of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, highlighting her commitment to professional growth and industry involvement. Polk is a member of AEC Power Women and Women in Healthcare, actively championing the advancement of women in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.
