Nashville, TN - Be sure to catch Barge Design Solution's Flood Risk and Resilience Lead Ben Zoeller at the Alabama Association of Floodplain Managers Fall 2019 Conference on October 28-30 in Orange Beach, Alabama, speaking on two-dimensional hydraulic modeling for bridge design.
Identifying challenges associated with a site during the early planning stage of a project allow the project team to select methodologies and tools that mitigate budget, schedule and technical risks during study and design stages. Ben's presentation discusses the challenges associated with evaluating the hydraulic performance of multiple bridges in a coastal marshland environment and describes the methodologies and tools used to arrive at realistic solutions.
Ben has 17 years of experience as a water resources engineer, consultant and project manager at Barge. He graduated in 2001 from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He has spent the better part of the last five years leading the development of flood forecasting models for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His experience also includes performing water resources studies for hydraulic and flood resilient design, flood risk evaluations, dam failure studies, levee certifications, and FEMA RiskMAP projects.
