On-Call Contracts with TDOT Environmental Division
The Challenge
With infrastructure projects and varied assets located across the State, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) requires a partner that can support their comprehensive environmental needs in a timely manner. Scopes of work can vary from emergency field needs to support an active construction project to data collection in support of long-term capital planning for infrastructure rehabilitation.
The Solution
The company has served as a partner to TDOT through continuing on-call consulting contracts with their Environmental Division. The contracts have covered services related to Ecology, Environmental Permitting, Construction Quality Assurance and Corrective Action, Mitigation, and Hazardous Materials.
To date Barge Design Solutions has completed tasks including water quality permitting (401/404); preparation of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), stream mitigation and natural channel design plans, and erosion prevention and sediment control (EPSC) plans; inspection of EPSC measures; performed environmental surveys, wetland and stream jurisdictional determinations, threatened & endangered species surveys, post-construction monitoring of stream mitigation sites, potential mitigation site searches, and wetland and stream assessments; and conducted due diligence (Phase I and II) assessments and asbestos inspections.
In addition, our relationships that we’ve built over the years with the various regulatory agencies that permit environmental projects, such as Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC) and the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), help us streamline the permitting process and keep the projects moving forward efficiently and within budget.
The Barge Factor
With offices located in Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and the Tri-Cities, Barge Design Solutions can respond to any environmental concern that TDOT might have across the entire state of Tennessee in a matter of hours.
