What We're Looking For:

The Director of Enterprise Applications leads Barge’s Enterprise Applications Center of Excellence (COE) and is accountable for the stability, standardization, and intentional ownership of the firm’s most critical business and delivery platforms. This role ensures systems of record and delivery‑critical platforms—including ERP, CRM, CAD/BIM, GIS, and HR systems—are reliable, trusted, and consistently used so projects start clean, data is dependable, and teams can deliver predictable outcomes.

This role prioritizes high‑value improvements that reduce friction and improve adoption, while protecting platform reliability and delivery stability.  This role owns the strategy for the evolution of enterprise applications over time to better support delivery, scalability, and decision‑making. The Director ensures platforms remain relevant and valuable as the firm grows enabling employees and operations, while avoiding unnecessary complexity.

Responsibilities:

Lead the Enterprise Applications COE, including CAD/BIM, GIS standards, ERP, CRM, and HR platforms

Establish clear ownership, standards, and operating expectations for delivery‑critical systems

Define and maintain a forward‑looking view of enterprise application evolution, informed by delivery outcomes, operational pain points, and business strategy, vendor roadmaps and trends

Protect COE capacity for standards, administration, and platform health (non‑billable focus where applicable)

Own platform standards, configurations, and governance that directly impact project setup, quality, and rework

Ensure platforms are stable, predictable, and intentionally owned; prevent fragmentation, duplicate tooling, and inconsistent usage

Identify and lead select, high‑value improvements that reduce friction, improve adoption, or strengthen delivery outcomes

Partner with IT, Data and Innovation to ensure enterprise platforms integrate cleanly into downstream workflows and reporting

Partner with IT on security, access, reliability, and lifecycle management to protect operational stability

Define practical governance for enterprise platforms that protect reliability

Establish measures of success and communicate progress (standards adoption, reduced setup time, improved data quality, fewer workarounds)

Build and lead a strong COE team focused on standards, enablement, and platform health

Set clear expectations and accountability while fostering trust with delivery teams

Develop talent with deep platform expertise and strong business awareness

Expectations:

Enterprise platforms are stable, trusted, and consistently used across the firm

Delivery teams experience fewer surprises, less rework, and clearer starting points for projects

Platform decisions are deliberate, well‑communicated, and aligned to business outcomes

Enterprise Applications set the standards for delivery and improve overall delivery speed and quality

Education & Experience Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, engineering, architecture, construction technology, or other relevant experience

Master’s degree in a related field preferred

8+ years of experience with enterprise applications and/or design technology platforms, including leadership responsibility

Demonstrated experience owning or governing systems of record and delivery‑critical platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, CAD/BIM, GIS, HR systems)

Experience establishing standards, governance, and operating models that improve adoption and consistency across teams

Strong business partnership skills with the ability to work across Client Centers, Solution Centers and Business Services teams

Strong understanding of how enterprise platforms support project delivery, financial performance, and operational decision‑making

Ability to balance long‑term platform vision with near‑term delivery realities; comfortable holding a point of view on where platforms should go, while adjusting based on evidence and feedback

Ability to balance stability and standardization with improvement and modernization

Clear communicator who can translate platform decisions and standards into business impact

Strong judgment and prioritization skills; comfortable saying no to protect platform integrity

Ability to influence and drive adoption through clarity and trust and value realization

Ability to negotiate differing opinions and prioritize competing priorities

Ability to broker decisions across vested parties and hold boundaries
