Fall 2018 Community Fund Recipients Announced

Barge Design Solutions announces that over $38,000 will be given out to 12 employee-nominated nonprofits through its Barge Design Solutions, Inc., Community Fund. Fall 2018 grants will benefit organizations that assist with a range of programs, such as STEM education, home rebuilding, veteran outreach, and financial assistance to families dealing with pediatric cancer.

The fall 2018 grant recipients are:

ACE Mentor Program of Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia (Chattanooga, TN) - $3,000

Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee (Knoxville, TN) - $5,000

The Dayton Regional STEM School (Dayton, OH) - $5,000

Discovery Center at Murfree Spring (Murfreesboro, TN) - $2,500

Libby’s Light Shines, Inc. (Dothan, AL) - $1,500

The Lutzie 43 Foundation (Marietta, GA.) - $4,300

Rebuilding Together Dayton (Dayton, OH) - $2,500

Society of Women Engineers, Memphis Professional Section (Memphis, TN) - $2,000

Southeast Alabama Youth Services, Inc. (Dothan, AL) - $2,000

VFW Foundation (Dayton, OH) - $2,500

Ride for Reading - $3,000

Operation BBQ Relief (Hurricane Michael Recovery) - $5,000


The Community Fund Committee also approved support of the area recently impacted by Hurricane Michael. A grant of $5,000 to Operation BBQ Relief will help provide meals to displaced families, emergency workers, and National Guard troops.

Over $200,000 have been donated to employee-nominated, 501(c)3 charitable organizations since 2014. These contributions would not be possible without Barge employees’ commitment of giving back to their communities.
