The Envision Edgehill Apartments Master Plan was selected for the Professional Merit Award in the Planning and Analysis category at the Tennessee chapter of American Society of Landscape Architects (TN ASLA) Virtual Awards Banquet.
The Envision Edgehill Apartments Master Plan was created by Barge and the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) through a resident-led, community-supported process for the purpose of revitalizing Edgehill by creating a mixed-income, mixed-use community. In all, residents had 58 formal opportunities to contribute to the plan. Residents sat on community advisory committees and were hired to perform community surveys, and multiple Nashville organizations were heavily involved in the process as well – including Metro Nashville Public Works, Nashville Electric Services, and Nashville’s WeGo public transit system.
One TN ASLA award panelist remarked, “This is an important and significant project that demonstrates ways that landscape architects can contribute to sustainable community development, both economically and environmentally. This is especially important here, by revitalizing a neglected area along a vital Nashville corridor.”
