Birmingham, ALCityWalkBHAM will soon take shape beneath Birmingham’s reconstructed I-59 and I-20 bridges and provide better pedestrian connections to nearby downtown attractions. The vision is to develop high-level design and pedestrian amenities that provide room for recreation as well as spaces for artists and outdoor classrooms.

Now that public involvement efforts and programming phases are complete the project team moves forward with the development of construction drawings.

The project team, led by Barge Design Solutions, recently collected over 640 survey responses online and at various public involvement sessions. The team is also scheduled to finish conceptual planning in early 2019. The 31-acre park is scheduled for completion and to be operational prior to Summer 2021 when Birmingham hosts the World Games.

Barge Design Solutions assembled a team that includes master planning, engineering, and landscape architecture to facilitate this transformative project.
